Buying Guide: April 2016

This April seems a little more eventful than usual to me. Maybe I’m just having a bad memory. It would have been REALLY crazy if Uncharted didn’t get pushed back, but now I get it as a birthday gift so I’m not upset. Anyway, let’s see what’s on deck shall we.

Week of April 5-11

4/5 – Quantum Break (XBox One) – This ambitious merging of television and gaming is finally here. Watch the show to get insight on what to do in the game, and then watch as what you do in game shapes the show. Very interesting stuff. Add in the time freezing mechanic and there is a lot here to love. XBox owners should be giving this a look.

4/5- Dirt Rally (PS4, XBox One) – Well this is pretty. Fans of off road racing could certainly do worse than Codemasters latest effort.

  • 4/1 – Under Earth (PC)
  • 4/5 – Enter The Gungeon (PC, PS4)
  • 4/5 – Skullgirls: 2nd Encore (Vita)
  • 4/5 – Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Collection (Vita)
  • 4/7 – Super Robo Mouse (Xbox One, Wii U, PC)
  • 4/8 – Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek (XBox One)

Week of April 12-18

4/12 – Dark Souls III (PC, PS4, Xbox One) – It’s going to be HARD. I don’t need to say much else. Except that trailer is brilliant.

4/12 – Ratchet and Clank (PS4) – The loveable Lombax is back and better than ever on PS4. I really enjoy this series, and any fan of platformers would be wise to look into this iteration. And those WEAPONS!

  • 4/14 – Aurion: Legacy of the Kori-Odan (PC)
  • 4/15 – Bravely Second: End Layer (3Ds)

Week of April 19-25

4/19 – Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (Eclipse DLC) (PS4) – 4 NEW MAPS! PLUS BANZAI FROM WORLD AT WAR! ZETSUBOU NO SHIMA ZOMBIE ADD ON! I’m not really all caps excited, but I know some of you are and I just wanted to share your joy.

4/22 – Star Fox Zero (Wii U) – FOX! FALCO! PEPPY! SLIPPY! DO A GOD DAMN BARREL ROLL! If I had a Wii U, I might be all caps excited for this one. I mean, its freaking Star Fox. Just go get it.

  • 4/19 – The Banner Saga 2 (PC)
  • 4/19 – Lichdom: Battlemage (PS4, XBox One)
  • 4/19 – Axiom Verge (Vita)
  • 4/19 – Invisible, Inc (PS4)
  • 4/22 – Star Fox Guard (Wii U)

Week of April 26-30

4/26 – Alienation (PS4) – Sony’s resident twin stick experts Housemarque are back with a brand new offering. Alienation basically looks like Dead Nation on steroids. That’s cool with me. It looks to be a little bit more robust than its spiritual predecessor, so I’m looking forward to it. Like, a lot.

4/26 – Tales from the Borderlands [Retail Release] (Xbox Systems, PS Systems) – All 5 episodes are finally out, so you know what that means. Retail time.

  • 4/26 – Dungeons 2 (PS4)
  • 4/26 – Stranger of Sword City (Vita)
  • 4/26 – Sega 3D Classics Collection (3DS)
  • 4/28 – Lost Reavers (Wii U)
  • 4/28 – Mini Mario and Friends: Amiibo Challenge (Wii U, 3Ds)
