Buying Guide: June 2016

E3 IS COMING ON YO BITCH ASS…..wait. That doesn’t sound like I meant it to.

E3 IS UPON US! SOUND THE CANNONS! That’s a little better.

It’s June, which means the gaming world’s media Super Bowl is here. E3 and it’s lovely rumors are back, and we actually got into it last night in our third live stream. Check it out on our YouTube page! So let’s see what’s coming out this month shall we? We shall. Also, this month we will introduce a new addition to the guide. We will list our game of the month and sleeper picks. This should give you an idea of what each of us is looking forward to. That way, if your taste aligns with ours, you know what you might like from the list.

June 1st – June 13th

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst (June 7th for PC, PS4 and XB1) – You got to have Faith uh Faith uh Faith. Fans asked for her return, and it’s finally here. Sort of. This has been tagged as a reboot, and I feel you have to treat it as such when assessing it. Fans of the original will undoubtedly love it, but those who stayed away may not find a reason to like this one either.

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 6 – A Portal To Mystery (June 7th for PC, Mac, PS3, PS4, XB1 and 360) – Look. I got this game for my daughter on PS4, and watching her play it was when I realized Telltale has the magic touch. I can’t STAND Minecraft as an entity, yet I found myself loving this game as I watched her struggle to make each decision and live with the consequences. Episode 6 centers around a murder mystery, and it features some really popular Youtubers which I think is awesome. So fans of Minecraft or Telltale should definitely play this.

Paragon (June 7th for PS4) – While PC players have been roaming the alleys of Paragon since March, PS4 players time is now. MOBA games seem to be taking over the world, and Pargaon seems to have what it takes to be a major player in the scene. Epic seem to have a lot invested in its success, but it seems as though they nailed the most important element which is solid gameplay. Early impressions have been favorable, so console MOBA fans may want to give this one a whirl.

  • Dangerous Golf (June 3rd for PC, PS4 and XB1)
  • Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (June 7th for PS3, PS4 and Vita)
  • Steamworld Heist (June 7th for Mac, Linux, PC, PS4 and Vita)
  • Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator (June 7th for PS3 and PS4)
  • Kirby Planet Robobot (June 10th for 3DS)
  • Just Cause 3: Mech Land Assault DLC (June 10th for PC, PS4 and XB1)

June 14th – June 30th

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness (June 28th for PS3 and PS4) – I’m always here for any JRPG with a cool battle system. Star Ocean has always fit the bill, and this entry will be no different. I love how the team has doubled down on what makes Star Ocean great instead of conforming to what us Americans want in our RPGs. I’m really looking forward to giving this a run through.

Dead By Daylight (June 14th for PC) – If horror is your thing, then this is your game. You can be both the killer and the victim in Behaviour Interactive’s multi-player thriller. How cool is that? ICE COLD! Alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright……….

Pac Man 256 (June 21st for  PC, PS4 and XB1) – One of 2015’s hottest mobile games gets a glitch-inspired make over for consoles and PC. Simple, true-to-the-arcade graphics make it a good way to get away from it all. Check out the trailer below.

Mighty No.9 (June 21st for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U and XB1) – This love letter to Mega Man fans combines several different dimensions of artwork and animation as you follow and control the robot, Beck, on a quest to defeat the other eight “Mighty” robots. Check it out.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens (June 28th for 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, 360 and XB1) – It’s another fun LEGO game. So all you really have to do is watch the trailer.

  • The Elder Scrolls Online: The Dark Brotherhood (June 14th for PS4 and XB1)
  • Grand Kingdom (June 21st for PS4 and Vita)
  • Umbrella Corps (June 21st for PC and PS4)
  • Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (June 24th for Wii U)
  • Resident Evil 5 Remastered (June 28th for PS4 and XB1)
