Buying Guide (May 2016)

It’s the bessssssttttttt monnnnnttttthhhhhh eveeeeeerrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

My birthday was yesterday, so it’s automatically the best month in all of the lands. Bias aside, this month has a few highly anticipated titles on deck. I anticipate some busy thumbs for the foreseeable future.

Week of May 3 – May 9

Battleborn (May 3 for PC, PS4 and XB1) – Gearbox Software (of Borderlands fame) are set to release this team based shooter. I know, I know, you’re probably saying “that sounds like Borderlands” right now. I promise it is different. I think. Maybe. Man, just watch the video. I’m not the shooter guy, so I feel unqualified lol.

  • Fragments of Him (May 3) – PC
  • Neverending Nightmares (May 3) – PS4 and Vita
  • Shadow Complex Remastered (May 3) – PS4 and PC

Week of May 10 – May 16

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (May 10th for PS4) – Do I really need to say anything about this game? Do I? I hope not. Naughty Dog is saying goodbye to Nathan Drake, and it’s going to be magical. I’d bet anything. If you’ve never played Uncharted, go get the Nathan Drake collection and catch up. Then buy this. You won’t regret it.

Doom (May 13th for PC, PS4 and XB1) – All hail (hell?) the return of id Software’s crown jewel. It’s fast, it’s furious, and it’s beautifully hellish. I can’t get over how great it looks, but I’m not surprised given the history of this team. Here are a couple of trailers to show it off.

  • The Binding of Issac: Afterbirth (May 10th for PS4 and XB1)

Week of May 17 -May 23

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered (May 17th for PS4) – The fan favorite tactical RPG returns remastered for PS4. The tactical role-playing game set in 1935 CE Europa features all the previous DLC. Check out the video below.

  • Shadow of the Beast (May 17th for PS4)
  • Homefront: The Revolution (May 17th for PC, PS4, and XB1)

Week of May 24-31 (since it’s an odd day out)

Overwatch (May 24th for PC, PS4, and XB1) – After a successful beta, Blizzard Entertainment releases their multiplayer first-person shooter, featuring a strong emphasis on co-op gameplay. CHOOSE YOUR ROLE!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan (May 24th for PC, PS3, PS4, X360, and XB1) – Platinum Games offers us a new hack-n-slash Turtles game from the third-person perspective. Play as Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, and Michealangelo to defend New York City against Shredder and The Foot Clan. You know, like EVERY OTHER TURTLES GAME.

  •  The Last Blade 2 (May 24th for PS4, Vita)
  •  Dungeons 2 (May 24th for PS4)
  •  The Elder Scrolls Online: The Dark Brotherhood (May 31st for Mac, PC)
