Buying Guide (March 2015)

Hey! I really hope you have been saving your coins/rupees/bolts/whatever currency you use to purchase items. March is chock full of titles worth getting your hands on. I don’t een know where to start honestly. Well, no need to stress. Let’s sort everything out and get you all up to speed. I’m gonna fornat this a little different from now on. I’ll include the release dates, so you can see what’s coming out each week. If a date changes, don’t yell at me.

March 3, 2015

Not a whole lot to talk about on our first Tuesday. Be on the lookout for Episode 2 of Resident Evil Revelations 2 today. Sony platforms will see the release of OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood and Helldivers today as well. The Rollercoaster sim Screamride will land on Microsoft platforms. That’s about it. But it gets crazier.

dmcDante: The Reboot makes his PS4 and XBox One debut with a bang in DmC: Definitive Edition. All DLC from the original title will be added, most notably the “Vergil’s Downfall” DLC which adds about 6 hours of gameplay for Vergil directly following the main game’s ending. Vergil also gets a bloody palace mode with 60 floors. The game is 60 fps now, which means the combos will be even smoother, and there have been a host of other changes to improve the experience based on fan feedback. I can’t wait to play it again.

This week is also an indie game double feature. Sony will trot out Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number for all its platforms, while Microsoft will counter with the exciting Ori and the Blind Forest. Two excellent choices there. Also, watch for Episode 3 of Resident Evil Revelations 2. This is the point of the program where I tell you to fasten your seat belts. The next 2 weeks will be wild.

BF-Hardline-Key-Art-EASeems like an eternity has passed since we first got a glimpse of the cops and robbers themed Battlefield: Hardline. A delay and a beta later, the moment has come for EA’s marquee FPS to make it’s mark. It looks like the extra time may have paid off, and initial previews state that Battlefield fans will find the same strategic game play that expect from the series. Maybe all the GTA fans who were waiting on heists can just buy this instead. HIYOOOOOO! BF Hardline will be a multiplatform release.

4e8f4415_Final-Fantasy-Type-0-Wallpaper-1920-x-1200-HFinal Fantasy Type 0  may have began its life on the PSP, but its looking to make a major splash on the PS4 and XBox One. This FF seems to be a lot more mature than most, due to the central theme of war and its effect on people. It also includes a demo for FF XV, so there’s that too! In any case, it seems like a welcome shift in style after FF XIII and its monotony. I can’t wait to see what its all about.

Surprise! You’ll also be able to play Episode 4 of Resident Evil Revelations 2. XBox platfoms also get the Fast and Furious expansion for Forza Horizon 2. It’s a standalone product, so you don’t need the original game to play. It’s free for the first 2 weeks to promote Fast and Furious 7, then it will be 10 bucks to buy.

Is that Bowser crashing the party? Indeed! Mario Party 10 makes its way to the Wii U, and Bowser is sick of sitting on the sidelines. Take the Gamepad and control Bowser against 4 other players in special minigames. Laugh, cry, and dissolve friendships as you fight for those ever elusive stars. And if you happen to own an Amiibo, try the specialized Amiibo party mode. This game promises to be just as fun as its predecessors.

bloodborne-ps4

The weak need not apply. Bloodborne is not here to hold your hand. It wont tuck you in and read you a story. It will kill you. And kill you. And kill you. And KILL YOU. And it will be glorious. Fans of From Software’s Souls series know what to expect. Newcomers don’t, but it will be fun to see them find out. I couldn’t hang with the Souls games, but this gen for me is all about being uncomfortable. So I will exorcise the demons, and this house will be clear. Happy hunting PS4 owners.

As someone who has only played the original Borderlands, this is fantastic. This PS4 and XBox One re-release includes Borderlands 2 AND The Pre-Sequel WITH all DLC! Talk about bang for your buck. It also has mixed co-op, meaning you can play split-screen and online co-op at the same damn time. This will undoubtedly make my lady happy, as well as my crew, cause I don’t have to choose. Small victories. In any case, this is most definitely a purchase you wanna make if you haven’t played them yet and we’re interested. I’ll save you a spot on my team. Maybe.

Fans of the Lego series can also check out Lego Ninjago: Shadow of the Ronin on all platforms.

Free Stuff

Don’t forget about the free Fast and Furious expansion for Forza Horizon 2 mentioned earlier. Games With Gold will offer XBox One members the fantastic Rayman Legends. Please download this game, it’s a stellar platformer. XBox 360 members will receive Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider. Two great games. This might be the best Games with Gold lineup ever. And next month the games will double. That means 4 360 titles and 2 XB1 titles!

On the Sony side, well, I have nothing to report. 😦 Sony hasn’t made an announcement regarding the free games for March. We may not get one until the games are released Tuesday. Rather than come back and update this post, I’ll let you know what will be free on our Twitter page as soon as I know. (@Ourcadegames, follow!)

There is your March. Quiet for the first half, deafening for the second. Have fun sorting through the chaos! There is a nice blend of titles available, so everyone should see something that interests them. I’ll probably get a good chunk of these games, so I’ll let you know what I think of them when I can. See you next time!
